The dark green scarf pictured was made with Cascade 220 Superwash Merino, color Antique Green, from Jimmy Beans Wool (affiliate link).

Inspiration for patterns can come from anywhere. In this case, from a colorway of Madelinetosh Tosh DK called “Shroom With a View.” I was inspired by the colorway name to create a mushroom stitch. The resulting pattern was the lacy and whimsical Mushroom Forest Scarf.

The Mushroom Forest Scarf is easy to learn and works up quickly in a 2-row repeat. The mushrooms are actually made upside-down starting with the cap in one row and then the stem in the other. The result is row after row of happy slanted mushrooms!

What do you call those inflatable guys that flap around and announce that a store is open, or having a sale? Officially, it is an air dancer or fly guy. They are also known as Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube Men. I call them happy flappy guys. At any rate, how can you not smile when you see one?

That’s why I made one into a scarf and now you can too! This crochet pattern shows you how to make a simple scarf base with arms. Then you make the letters, eyes, and smile as appliqués to sew on. Finish it off with some fringe hair, and then wrap this guy around your neck to bring joy to everyone who sees it!
